Mission Statement

The mission of MTC School of Midwifery is to provide comprehensive, high-quality direct-entry midwifery education that prepares students for competent, ethical, and compassionate practice as professional midwives. Through rigorous academic instruction and diverse supervised clinical experiences, the program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking necessary to provide safe, evidence-informed care to women, newborns, and families across the childbearing continuum.

Program Philosophy

The philosophy of MTC School of Midwifery is grounded in the Midwives Model of Care® and the principles of physiologic birth, respect for autonomy, and evidence-informed practice. We recognize pregnancy and birth as normal life processes and support the use of interventions only when clinically indicated to promote the safety and well-being of the mother and newborn.

The program emphasizes the importance of education, counseling, and shared decision-making throughout the childbearing year. Students are trained to provide continuous, individualized care that integrates careful assessment of maternal and fetal well-being with respect for cultural, emotional, and psychosocial factors affecting families.

We believe that professional midwives play a vital role in promoting safe, satisfying, and empowering birth experiences. Through structured academic instruction and supervised clinical training, students develop the knowledge, clinical skills, professional judgment, and ethical foundation necessary for competent entry-level midwifery practice.

The program recognizes that each student brings unique strengths, learning styles, and experiences to their education. While all students are held to consistent academic and clinical standards, the learning process supports individual growth toward professional competence, confidence, and accountability as a direct-entry midwife.
